Coffs Highlights
Coffs Coast has it all
World
Heritage rainforests, golden beaches and the wonders of the Solitary Islands Marine Park are all within easy
reach during your stay at the Sanctuary Resort Motor Inn in Coffs Harbour.
With an
abundance of warm sunny days the CSIRO has determined that the Coffs Coast area has the best
weather in Australia. It is just the place to do as much or as
little as you like. Explore hidden
valleys and meandering rivers, visit a gold mine or take a steam train ride in
the beautiful hinterland area of Coffs Harbour.
From
May to November each year Coffs Harbour hosts the magnificent
Humpback Whales on their annual migration with the shallow waters around the
harbour creating a natural haven for the whales to escape their predators.
Cruises
leave from the Coffs Harbour Marina that take in the wonders of the Solitary Islands Marine Park. The Marine Park has currents from the Great Barrier Reef and is home to a mixture
of both tropical and southern marine life.
There are numerous dive sites around the islands and each offers a
diverse range of ocean life including morays, blue damsels, kingfish and green
turtles.
A short
drive from Coffs Harbour along the tranquil Waterfall Way is Bellingen with its
beautifully restored heritage buildings and a myriad of interesting shops and
cafes. A little further along the Waterfall Way the road climbs through
rainforest and waterfalls to Dorrigo with its fresh mountain air and World Heritage National Park.
A
little closer to Coffs Harbour is the charming seaside village of Sawtell with its main street
lined with restaurants, cafes and magnificent old fig trees that offer shade in
the warm summer months.
If you
don't feel like travelling Coffs Harbour is brimming with
attractions. Take a stroll along the
restored Jetty and enjoy seafood from the Fishermans Co-op or wander across the
rockwall to Muttonbird Island which is home to a large
colony of Wedgetailed Shearwaters (Muttonbirds).
Browse
the local galleries especially the unique Bunker Cartoon Gallery which is
housed in a World War II bunker and is home to the largest collection of
cartoons in the country.
Enjoy
the aquatic animal antics at the Pet Porpoise Pool with the dolphin and seal
shows or visit the nearby Clog Barn to see clog making demonstrations and a
walk through a miniature Dutch village.
We
invite you to stay at the Sanctuary Resort and sample the great climate and
range of activities that the Coffs Coast has to offer.
